The money raised by Habitat ReStores helps community members build a decent and affordable place to call home. People who partner with Habitat build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. When the items you donate to ReStore are sold, the money helps families achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better future.
Our Habitat ReStores divert tons of materials from landfills each year, accepting hard-to-dispose-of items including new and used furniture, appliances and surplus building materials. Best of all, proceeds from the sale of these donated goods help families build a foundation for the future.
Here is how your donation helps YOU:
Safe: Using social media or resale websites can be dangerous and bring unwelcome visitors to your home or business. Habitat employees go through a thorough vetting process before they are brought on staff. You will be safe and comfortable when your items are picked up by our friendly and professional donations staff. Our trucks and team members will be easily recognized by the Habitat for Humanity ReStore authorized uniforms and branded identifiers.
Save Money on Your Taxes: Your donation may qualify for a tax deduction. You will be given a receipt from Habitat for Humanity ReStore to identify all donated items. Please consult your tax preparer on all tax deductions.
Community: You are helping your local community. Habitat for Humanity of Kanawha & Putnam has built more than 175 houses for community members and families in need in Kanawha and Putnam counties, and donations like yours have directly funded the construction of 69 of those houses.
