Tons (literally, tons) of books are donated to the Charleston ReStore every year by wonderful donors like you. Currently, we have every book displayed on inefficient gondola shelving in the “This, That & the Other” department of the ReStore.
In an effort to create more space for home goods (knick knacks, chotskies, dodads), and to better utilize an underutilized area of the ReStore, we want to create a book nook.
Here’s a look at the space we have our eye on for the future book nook.
This 6’8″ wide X 11’4″ deep X 6’7″ tall area of the ReStore is located in the front section west of the main entrance. The small room has a ceiling, over head light and doors that can be locked or removed.
Currently in search of carpenter ants, not book worms.
We need a volunteer that has the vision and ability to turn this boring underutilized space into a cozy and efficient book nook. Can you imagine how cool this book nook could be?
We’ve Got What You Need.
We will supply or purchase the materials needed to build shelves and attach them to the walls. We can also help install additional lighting. But most importantly, we will give the crafty volunteer that steps forward full access to the entire ReStore inventory of donations to execute their design plan.
Doesn’t this sound like a fun project for friends or partners?
In addition to a beautiful vision, basic carpentry skills are needed and for this reason volunteers must be 18 or older.
